Control-Z's Innovation and Technical Acumen Spotlighted on Microsoft's Global Website

October 12, 2011

Faced with a daunting task of a mid-semester overhaul of the school's entire email infrastructure, Marian University turned to IT service providers in the area for technical assistance.

Control-Z responded with a highly innovative plan and executed the massive and complex upgrade with military precision and without any disruption to existing services—something that had really never done before under the circumstances and time-lines that Control-Z had to work with. The innovation behind the execution of this project garnered the attention of Microsoft, which highlighted Control-Z’s creative processes and technological acumen on their global website.

Control-Z is devoted to innovation as one of its core professional values. Control-Z’s clients include businesses of all different sizes and all different industries. Each company or IT project is different, and so, as a matter of practice, Control-Z seeks to bring the highest standards of innovation to every endeavor, ensuring that each client receives the technological solutions needed to meet the desired goals.

The impetus for this massive project Control-Z undertook on behalf of Marian University was a high volume of complaints about interruptions in e-mail service received by the university from students, faculty, and staff members. The sporadic nature of the campus e-mail service led to significant communication barriers and challenges in implementing high standards of educational interaction. The school knew it had to do something about the campus email systems and was planning a complete overhaul during the upcoming summer break. However, as the emails systems continued to degrade, Marian no longer had the luxury of waiting till the summer. Led by CIO, Peter Williams, the school decided to make a move and sought professional consultation.

Marian University weighed proposals from some of the biggest IT service providers in the area but ultimately chose the plan mapped out by Control-Z, citing it as the most innovative and comprehensive. Thus began an unprecedented campaign to overhaul the entire campus’ e-mail infrastructure. A project of this scope and complexity is usually done over a summer break but Marian couldn’t wait till the summer. The project had to be done during the middle of the Fall semester. Not only did Control-Z provide a brilliant plan for tackling this highly complex project, it executed this plan flawlessly, overhauling the entire campus e-mail system without a single disruption to regular e-mail service at a time when the school was at its busiest.

Control-Z’s endeavors were not only successful and perfect in execution, but they were also impressive enough to attract the attention from Microsoft, which spotlighted the project on its global website. Control-Z has since then been retained by Marian University as one of a few preferred partners to assist with turning the medical school into a truly state-of-the-art technological facility. Control-Z continues to work closely with the university to provide the latest and greatest in classroom technology and simulation labs.
