The Systems Administrator will work within the Control-Z Team to support clients’ and customers’ computing systems, support LAN set up, resolve hardware/software issues related to servers, personal computers and network devices. This position is ideal for someone studying to be a certified Microsoft or CompTIA Network Engineer, Systems Administrator or Systems Engineer. This is a great opportunity to get real life experience in the IT field as the support specialist will be working directly with an experienced Systems Administrator. This position requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform in a satisfactory manner the functions listed below. The list is not exhaustive; other duties may be assigned:
- Assist clients remotely or onsite with day to day computer related issues
- Install, configure and troubleshoot common software systems such as Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Project); Custom client related software (such as QuickBooks, Sage Timberline, AutoCAD, etc); Adobe Suite (including Photoshop and Acrobat), Microsoft Outlook & Active Sync in a MS Exchange environment
- Install, configure and troubleshoot peripheral devices such as network printers, and fax systems
- Coordinate with other IT vendors and system support providers to resolve issues with hardware and software
- Research issues using available resources online and develop solutions for these issues
- Assist and work closely with the Senior Systems Administrator in troubleshooting central computing systems including:
- ----------- maintaining Active Directory users and Group Policies
- ----------- joining computers to Active Directory Domains
- ----------- installing and mapping network drives and printers
- ----------- troubleshooting and resolving common issues related to Active Directory Domains
- Assist with running network cables, connecting to switches, configuring wireless access points
- Deliver appropriate documentation of systems, configurations
- Assist in monitoring system performance and optimization
- Research, test, and evaluate new systems, products,
- Assist with minor HTML edits to web pages
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate or undergraduate students should be pursuing a major in Information Technology, Computer Science or related area
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Server 2003, 2008, 2013; Active Directory; File/Printer Sharing; Group Policies; DHCP; and DNS
- Knowledge of all current versions of Microsoft Windows (XP, Windows 7), all current internet browsers (IE, Chrome, Safari) including networking concepts and general technical troubleshooting skills
- Must be able to perform recurring assignments with a reasonable degree of independence under normal supervision and a customary orientation period
- Previous Information Technology work required
- Knowledge of Active Directory Services is big plus
- CompTia A+ (or Net+), Microsoft Systems Administrator, or Systems Engineer Certification preferred but not required.
